New painting- North Park, Arlington Heights

Was in Chicago this past week to lead a Children's Art Workshop that was marvelous. I also took a student landscape painting in the early afternoon. We painted two sketches, one of a row of buildings, the other of a park and fountain. I tell you, painting quickly to capture the color of a scene is just plain exhilarating! This is one of my sketches.

I led an incredible group of young artists through a grueling week of Art Camp this summer at Patrick Henry College. The kids were hard workers, put what they learned into practice, and produced some beautiful work. And we had a blast doing so! ...Ready for next summer's camp?

PHC Art Camp a total success!

The students were nothing short of wonderful to work with. Great company, voracious painters, real go-getters. We packed a lot of info and painting in one week. Here's the first of a few posts showing their work. These are the monochromatic oil studies they did prior to diving into color. This is just one example of student work; to view more go to my Facebook page.

Help kids in Belize and get a great portrait for your family!

To raise funds to teach art to kids and to travel to Belize in Central America to offer free art workshops to the children there, I am offering my Charcoal Head & Shoulders portraits for only $450 (list: $3,500). Want to help kids learn art and get a great deal on a portrait for your own family? Look for details on Facebook or contact me at studio@timothychambers.com.

In Belize, I hope to bring a boatload of art supplies for the kids and teaching them the fundamentals of art and ensuring they have a great time at it. These kids live in poverty, and never have the chance to learn art. I am excited and yet humbled that we will be able to encourage and love these kids, and I think art is a great means to do so- it's probably the most universal language there is.

We'll be in Belize for ten days, and I will have a group of kids assisting me, including my own son. If you'd like to partner with us in this by taking advantage of my portrait special, please contact me. If you'd prefer to make a tax-deductible contribution, let me know and I will give you the info you need.

Thanks for getting involved! I'll be keeping everyone updated with stories and pictures, so stay tuned!

A Winning Portrait

I recently completed my third portrait for a family wiht three beautiful daughters. It's been an experience, and I love how each each portrait is distinct from the others. Here are the three portraits, all painted life-size in oil. What a wonderful heirloom for this family to treasure!

Another great Children's Art Workshop, this time in sunny California. We had a great time, and as has become customary, both kids and their parents loved it. We covered perspective, values, color theory, shapes, drawing, and painting all in one week. Yes, it was a jam-packed session, but it was a blast. Looking forward to another workshop with the same kids this summer. If you'd like me to lead a workshop in your neighborhood, drop me an email (studio@timothychambers.com)! Meanwhile, enjoy the show.
